Maybe it’s the fact that the world might end, maybe it’s the influence of the Unown, but this week, Mars feels like switching things up a little.

Instead of jogging near Mauville Hills or going all the way to Mt Pyre, he makes his way to Route 116 – right outside Rustboro City.

By his side, an Unown-X floats idly, but when Mars begins to run, it wanders down to the ground, as if attempting to mimic him with its short limbs. It also starts to run. Surprisingly fast, even.

”Xero… Really?” It gets a chuckle out of him.

Adorable as the sight of an Unown attempting to run may be to Mars, Xero does soon take to the skies – going back to levitating with no more than a little hop, as if it were the easier thing in the world.

The reason for this change? A Solosis that the Unown circles around, curious.

”Just leave it alone.”
[break][break]
Mars isn’t surprised by what happens next.
[break][break]
He stops running when realising the Solosis attempts to CONFUSE the Unown-X, which of course only results in HIDDEN POWER being fired. Oh well.

Like the oldest joke in the oldest book, a few tens of metres away, after the path takes more than a couple of twists and turns, what Mars finds is a Snorlax sleeping right in his way.

He pauses, raising a brow, and at this point, he makes what to him is the obvious choice to make.

One: give the rangers’ emergency line a quick call about the situation, because Martín del Mar, CEO of Piazza Oro Grande bank, is ever so nice and helpful.

Two: get his Unown and TELEPORT pass the Snorlax so he can continue with his jog. He has no time to waste with this kind of silliness.

The moment they reappear, pass where the Snorlax slumbers, the Unown-X returns to the ground, marching on before Mars himself even takes a single step. Ever his guide, aren’t they?
